Apple hints at future ‘MacOS’ name change on new environmental webpage

Earlier today, Apple unveiled the beginnings of its efforts for Earth Day 2016, and with it came an updated webpage that aims to answer all sorts of questions about Apple and its focus on the environment. One tidbit of information on that page, however, is that instead of referring to its desktop operating system as OS X, Apple again has referred to it as MacOS.

Poll: How long until Apple buys Twitter?

As of today, Twitter is baked into both iOS and MacOS X on a relatively low-level. Apple’s own social network Ping has yet to gather any steam in the marketplace. Facebook and Google are both growing their social networks like crazy while they are increasing in value.

Apple has $100 billion in its pocket, and CEO Tim Cook said at a recent Goldman Sachs event that he is looking for innovative ways to spend the money.

Most 9to5Mac Macintosh readers have moved to Lion

We were just rummaging through our web logs today to see how many of you guys have been upgrading to Lion.  Imagine our surprise when we saw that 53% of Mac users who visit 9to5mac have already done the update.  Here is the breakdown:

While our readership isn’t necessarily indicative of the larger Mac community, it does show that you guys have jumped in the deep end in a big way.  We should note that a full 10% of our readers were on Lion on Monday (below), having downloaded it ahead of time.  Apple today announced that a million people had upgraded to Lion overall, making  it the fastest MacOS update in history.
