HomeKit remote control ‘Wemo Stage’ to compete with Philips Hue Dimmer

HomeKit remote control Wemo Stage

An upcoming Belkin HomeKit remote control to be known as the Wemo Stage has been discovered through FCC documents. Like the Philips Hue dimmer, there are several buttons that can be used to activate different devices and scenes, and it can either be used as a mobile remote or attached to a wall-plate.

Wemo Dimmer HomeKit

Belkin continues to bring HomeKit support to its smart home accessories, and the Wemo WiFi Smart Dimmer is the latest to join the club. Wemo HomeKit support is retroactively being added through a free software update starting today. Wemo was first to use a new software authentication method for certifying HomeKit devices with its Mini Smart Plug earlier this year.

Belkin committed to bringing Apple’s HomeKit to Wemo after previously cancelling plans

Back in March 2016, users of Belkin’s popular line of Wemo connected accessories were disappointed to learn that the company was canceling its previously announced plans to support Apple’s HomeKit platform. Review: Are Belkin’s latest Wemo lights worth the investment before HomeKit support?

Belkin’s three latest products in its Wemo line of Wi-Fi connected, smartphone-controlled products for the home include a white bulb starter kit, a versatile strip light, and garden lights for outdoor use. The last two are both tunable to thousands of colors and all three connect to Belkin’s Wemo ecosystem and companion app for remote control from your iPhone. Holiday gift guide: Smart home products – get a jump on HomeKit for 2015

Site default logo image

I wondered earlier this year whether Apple’s HomeKit system would bring home automation to the masses. The good news is that you don’t need to wait for HomeKit to start bringing smart home technology to your family and friends – and we’ve put together a gift guide covering some of the main products that might bring a smile to their faces during the holidays.

With the right gadgets, they will be able to control lighting, heating, cooking, sound systems … even have their kettle switch on when they walk up to their front door, which will automatically unlock as they approach. Best of all, you can get them in on the smart home action from just $30 …
