Bose QuietComfort Earbuds official

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds challenge to AirPods Pro now official [U]

Update: The launch is now official, with the Earbuds available for pre-order at $279.95. Bose has also launched new versions of its audio sunglasses at $249.95. These were last month spotted in an FCC listing by 9to5Toys. The originals are still available at $199.99.

An interesting new alternative to AirPods Pro is on the way in the form of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds. A launch video for the new noise-cancelling true wireless in-ear headphones was seemingly accidentally posted and then deleted

Review: Bose SoundSport Free versus AirPods — sport-ready without the magic

While no one has managed to match the magic of AirPods in the almost two-year period since they hit the market, there is one Apple-endorsed pair of wireless earbuds that arguably fits the slot where theoretical AirPods Pro could exist.

Bose SoundSport Free Wireless are truly wireless, offer 5-hour battery, and include a protective charging case like Apple AirPods. SoundSport Free Wireless also adds water resistance with an IPX4 rating, in-ear sport tips for delivering louder sound and natural noise cancellation, and a higher retail price.

Bose hasn’t quite captured the wireless-without-compromise balance that Apple struck two years ago, but SoundSport Free Wireless includes a few significant features that may be worth the trade-off with AirPods in some situations.

Bose unveils new SoundSport Free truly wireless earbuds geared towards active lifestyles

Bose has this morning unveiled its first truly wireless headphones, dubbed the SoundSport Free. Much like Apple’s own AirPods and Jaybird’s latest Run in-ears, Bose is taking aim at active users looking for an audio solution during exercise.

As one of the biggest names in audio, Bose is taking its established tech and cramming it into earbuds that weigh just 0.35-ounces each. A wireless carrying case will handle charging, much like what Apple and Jaybird has instituted with their own headsets in recent releases. However, its a new antennae system that Bose claims will truly set its new release apart from the competition.

Bose accused of spying on headphone & speaker users, selling listening data

Site default logo image

A new lawsuit against Bose alleges that the company spies on users of its wireless headphones, tracking the music, podcasts, and other audio that they listen to and using the data for monetary gain. The accusation was made in a complaint filed yesterday in a federal court in Chicago and seeks millions of dollars in damages to the users of Bose products…

Bose quietly launches Hearphones: wireless earphones that help you hear in noisy environments

Site default logo image

If you’re not quite at the stage of needing a hearing aid but sometimes find it difficult to follow conversations in noisy environments like bars, Bose seems to be soft-launching an iPhone-controlled device to help.

Hearphones look like a special version of the company’s QC30 wireless earphones equipped with directional microphones that allow you to listen selectively by focusing in on conversations and tuning out background noise …

The 9to5Mac team’s favorite wireless headphones for the iPhone 7

Site default logo image

Without a doubt the biggest consumer-facing news from Apple’s September event yesterday was the removal of the iPhone’s headphone jack. This “courageous” move is seen to help push forward wireless audio technology, all the while giving Apple a few more millimeters to work with in the device’s internals.

Not without controversy, this decision does mean leaving a lot of wired headphones in the dust. Not everyone will find the AirPods, expected in October, the default choice and we figured this would be a good time as any to roundup the 9to5Mac team’s opinions on their current favorite pair (or 2) of wireless headphones. Take a look through and be sure to share your current favorite wireless audio options in the comments.

BoseBuild speaker aims to teach kids how speakers work as they build their own [Video]

With schools about to break up the the summer holidays, now would be a great time to line up some activities to keep them entertained – and Bose has come up with an interesting-looking option. The BoseBuild speaker is a $149 Bluetooth speaker that kids build themselves from prefabricated parts. Instructions are provided by a companion iOS app.

The build itself looks pretty basic, but there are a whole bunch of activities along the way that teach kids how a speaker works – from the fundamentals of how sound is created through to frequencies and waveforms …

Bose gears up for rumored removal of 3.5mm headphone jack in iPhone 7 with wireless QuietComfort model

Update: We’ve had the chance to review them and they are great.

Bose is one of the best-known names in noise-cancelling headphones with its QuietComfort 25 model a popular choice, and the firm is now gearing up for the rumored removal of the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 with a wireless version.

The new Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones, launched today, offer the same noise-cancelling performance as their wired predecessors, but with Bluetooth and NFC pairing.

These are our best headphones. In making them wireless, we had one goal: seamlessly merge Bluetooth and our Acoustic Noise Cancelling technology together with no compromise to the technologies or the audio performance we’re known for …

The best Apple Watch headphones and earphones

Up until now, Bluetooth wireless audio was purely optional for Apple’s devices: every iPad, iPhone, and iPod has shipped with a 3.5mm audio port to connect with wired earbuds and headphones. The Apple Watch is different: it’s Apple’s first fully wireless device, with no user-accessible ports to connect accessories, even though it can work as a standalone music player during workouts. The lack of a headphone port is actually a positive, since tethering your wrist to your head with a cable would look silly, and isn’t ergonomically ideal. Thankfully, Bluetooth headphones have come a long way over the past few years, shrinking from gangly and boxy earmuffs into earphones comfortable enough to exercise with.

Since one of the Apple Watch’s major selling points is fitness functionality, this quick guide to the best Apple Watch headphones and earphones focuses mostly on accessories that can work anywhere, rather than options you can’t wear while exercising. But I’ll include some larger options, too, just in case you’re picking a pair for non-athletic use, or to share with your iPad, iPhone, iPod, or Mac…

Bose reportedly planning to take on rival Beats Music with upcoming music streaming platform

Site default logo image

Bose and Beats have been at each other’s throats in recent months, with the former inking a deal with the NFL to ban the Apple-owned company’s gear from appearing on camera at the league’s events. Apple fired back by pulling Bose products from its physical and online stores.

Now things may be about to get even more interesting between the two companies as Bose reportedly plans to launch a direct competitor to the Beats Music streaming service. The information comes from a job listing posted by the speaker manufacturer.

The listing states in no uncertain terms that…
