Sonos has officially launched its all-new flagship speakers that we’ve been hearing about over the last few months. The Era 300 and 100 arrive with what the company calls “next-level audio” and an impressive array of connectivity like WiFi 6, Bluetooth, USB-C line-in, AirPlay 2, and spatial audio for the larger Era. Last summer we got a sneak peek at the new high-end speakers that Sonos has in the works. Now it’s surfaced that the upcoming premium products will be called the Era 100 and 300, set to compete with Apple’s HomePod 2. Further, a second-gen portable Sonos Move is in the pipeline and another release is coming that will be in a “brand new category.”

Sonos first launched its custom EQ software called Trueplay back in 2015 which has evolved over the years to dial in the best acoustic performance based on the room you’re using the speakers. After a curious delay, the Sonos app now appears to support using an iPhone 14 or 14 Pro to configure Trueplay.

IKEA and Sonos started collaborating back in 2019 with the original SYMFONISK table lamp that doubles as an AirPlay-enabled smart speaker. After launching V2 last year with a new mix-and-match design, IKEA x Sonos has announced the newest addition to the lineup, the SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker.

Since shifting leadership a few years back, Sonos has steadily expanded its connected speaker portfolio to include new categories like portable audio. That’s a pattern we should expect to see continue next year, according to the company. This could mean that Sonos will soon compete with Apple and Beats in the headphone space.

Today, Sonos announced a new, more affordable Sub Mini subwoofer that, according to the company, delivers “bold bass for smaller-sized rooms.” It features the same design as the Sub series in a more compact option.

After launching its budget Ray AirPlay 2 soundbar, Apple Music voice control back in May, and seeing a delay of its budget subwoofer, we’ve got a look at Sonos’ upcoming high-end speaker. Codenamed “Optimo 2,” The Verge shared an exclusive look at the future flagship product.

Earlier this year, The Verge revealed renders of Sonos’s next new product – a wireless subwoofer named “Sub Mini.” A few weeks later, FCC filings confirmed that the device was real and that its launch could be really close. However, Sonos has now pretty much confirmed that the new Sub Mini subwoofer has been delayed even before its official announcement.

Smart speaker maker Sonos has accidentally shipped customers more than what they ordered, according The Verge. In addition to sending extra speakers, the company has charged for these products and wants them sent back. While Sonos is refunding the incorrect charges, customers want a discount for putting up with the inconvenience.

After being leaked back in April, Sonos has officially launched its new soundbar. The Ray comes as its most affordable home theater speaker priced at $279 and is more compact than the Beam or full-sized Arc. Sonos has also announced its own “Voice Control” service that will arrive next month to let users control Apple Music directly from Sonos speakers with built-in mics.
