Sweet iPhone 3.0 concept

We found this iPhone 3.0 concept lurking on the Internets.  Everything would have to be wireless/bluetooth, but we like the look...how about you?

I don't know about anyone else, but I find the 2nd Gen iPod Touch/iPhone form to be uncomfortable. I prefer the flat back of the 1st Gen Touch. And can you imagine all the dust getting stuck in that gap where there ambient sensor and speakers are? No likey.

mmmm never before seen iPhone that blows your mind away, aaarlrlrlrlrlrlrlrrrr

From a flat, 3/4 Metal and 1/4 plastic back to a full curved plastic back and then back to metal?

From a hardware standpoint, I see nothing wrong with the iPhone 3G other than the abysmal camera, lack of flash, weak GPS reception and very weak cell data reception. The biggest thing is the software changes 3.0 will bring. #1 being Copy/Paste and #2 being MMS.

Front facing camera? Would you want to suffer through a video chat on AT&T's network? It would be a nice feature, but you would need the party on the other end to have an iPhone. Not all my friends will have iPhone 3.0's. Not very useful, unless they made it a standard which would never happen because every other cell phone maker would gang up on apple and create a competing standard. Standards, the new proprietary.

Maybe I'm just cynical. Just like HTML 5/CSS with all the cool enhancements. Internet Exporer will never support that. The rest will. But the majority uses IE, out of sheer blind convenience. Think Adobe would allow HTML 5/CSS to even remotely compete with flash - you got another thing comming.

Just put flash on the iPhone, Apple!

You do know that there is already a standard for video call (or "chats") in 3GPP (UMTS) so you would not be limited to other Apple phones?

and where did you say the jack-input went?

That would be to bluetooth headset only, imo.

Make every dock that people have paid $300-$400 for the Bose docks useless.

So my dock in the bedroom and portable dock for the patio would now become great Book Ends.

It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Apple would probably come up with an Apple only bluetooth so you have to buy it from them and of course it won't have any buttons on it.

Getting sick of Apple.

That would be to bluetooth headset only, imo.

 nice, but way too thin

looks like you could kill someone with that sharp edge on top

i like this one better ,you probably posted-it before or i saw it on a diferant site ,anyway ....here it is :D

Top Heavy...

Hmmm I think I like my iPhone 3G better...

This thing is too thin. The battery life isn't long enough as it is. Apple's not going to introduce a phone with LESS battery power, especially with 3.0's push capabilities sucking even more life out of batteries. This is fake, fake, fake.

It's not supposed to be real...

Having access to 3D drawing software is not the same thing as being a designer.

It has a metal back, so poorer reception
It has a nice crack where the speaker is, to collect lint
It has no place to put a jack
It has no place to put a dock connector
It's curved, but not ergonomically so

There is also no reason to put the earpiece in that crack when you aren't reducing the overall size of the device anyway. Duh!

FAIL, FAIL, FAIL ...

Major eww

it looks way to thin, it wouldn't work and you'd probably break it by when you sat on it

Although the phone looks slick, the lack of a black buffer at the top near the phone audio out speaker would make it impossible to use the phone in landscape while playing a game or anything. Hold your phone in landscape play a game and see where your left/right thumbs go... They can't take away that buffer, its made for your fingers. Sorry to be the downer here :(

Really that is my opinion of the curved backs. This is a learned opinion based on experience with my iPhone 3G.

The big problem with curved backs is that they rock if you have the device sitting on your desk and are trying to use a productivity app like the "HP" calculator. Now if Apple where to mold in little feet to address this issue then a curved back might be more acceptable.

Also I have to agree with the many here that object to the lost of battery life. Improvements may be on the way for batteries but it would be far better for Apple and it's custommers to use those better battery technologies to extend IPhones run time. I really Apples goal would be 12 hours continous operation as a web device.

Note I'm not objecting to thin either as that would be nice in an iPhone. Apple may very well be able to manage that on the next iPhone revision if the electronics can be shrunk enough. Especially if the screen is made bigger and thinner (OLED). However if the battery shrinks then no thanks, 3G's battery is already to small.

Dave

hate to be the cynic here but then how are u supposed to hold the device and use it at the same time or is apple coming out with a mobile device u dont carry along with u!!
problems with the above form factor:-
*wud break like a wafer
*as already mentioned...dosent hav a buffer at the top so no ergonomically suitable landscape mode
*battery wud probably run for 1-2 mins unless apple comes up with something ground breaking in battery technology
*and i dont believe that the thermal envelope in such a design wud be capable of a decent logic board or cpu

newayz i wudnt be very surprised if apple do some up with sumthing like this...after the new shuffle i wudnt put nething past them(sigh)

Looks nice. It could be handy as a knife as well.

nice! but I think it looks more like an iPod Touch than an iPhone...

Remember that the iPhone is going to become more like a mini-computer, not less.

That means three things:
1 - faster, better processors, which allow for:
2 - more capable software, which:
3 - results in more need for energy (power).

Form follows function.

There is no functional need for the iPhone to get thinner; it serves no purpose and it works in opposition to the three functional facts I cited above. Ergo the iPhone will not get thinner in any appreciable amount.

Get rid of the plastic. and no mirror in back (we dont need more fingerprints or scuffs showing)

lets check out some new stuff - macbook mini

Frickin' blade edges + big-ass square on the Home button + easily-scratched chrome back = NO.

so obviously a fake....

Me like!

pretty cool.
is that a little camera i see on the front???
hmmmmmm...
