Niantic plans to shut down streets for public Pokémon Go & Ingress community events around the U.S.

Niantic, developer of popular augmented reality games Pokémon Go and Ingress, plans to host community events for players in public spaces around the U.S. through a partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The company announced the project today, with the first event set to kick off this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Pokémon GO launches Eggstravaganza in-game event for Easter

As it has done surrounding past holidays, Pokémon GO developers Niantic announced today that it will host a special in-game event for Easter weekend. The “Eggstravaganza” event will kick off today at 1:00 PM PDT and include increased opportunities to catch a greater variety of specific types of Pokémon while earning more Candy from each one hatched from an egg:

Pokémon GO launches in-game Water Festival event w/ increased encounters for Water-type Pokémon & more

Pokémon GO developers Niantic today announced the latest upcoming in-game event for the title with the Pokémon GO Water Festival scheduled to kick off today, March 22.

During the event, players will have increased opportunities to catch water-type Pokémon, which the developers note includes “Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile and their evolutions around the world,” among others:

Pokémon Go adding 80 new Pokémon from Gold & Silver this week, new berries and more

Pokémon Go is adding over 80 new Pokémon this week, from the Generation II Gold and Silver games. All of them will be available to catch in the wild whilst playing Pokémon Go, not just from hatching eggs. You will be able to evolve some of the Kanto Pokémon you’ve already caught into their Johto successors.

Pokémon Go is teaming up with Sprint to turn businesses into PokéStops and Gyms as part of Niantic’s latest move to keep players in the game. Pokémon Go releases tweaked ‘Nearby’ tracker in parts of the US & Canada, all of Australia

Pokémon Go’s popularity has significantly declined since its summer release. Most updates have been minor, with Niantic hosting in-game events that let players collect more points. While a ‘Nearby’ feature has been highly requested, the current revision that’s now seeing a wider rollout has also been significantly curbed.
