Poll: Would you like to see Slide Over and Control Center in macOS?

There has long been debate over the extent to which macOS and iOS will converge. Some think we’ve already gone too far down that route, with Launchpad coming in for particular criticism as an unnecessary child-like interface (though it can be made more useful). At the other extreme, some think Apple should go as far as touchscreen Macs and enable people to run either OS on both Macs and iPads.

Apple itself has consistently said that it considers Macs and iPads to be different categories of device, a message somewhat diluted by ads referring to the iPad as a computer.

But I was struck by a suggestion of two iOS features that might work on Mac …

Microsoft brings long-awaited OneDrive Files On-Demand feature to Mac

Thurott reports Microsoft has updated its 365 product roadmap with mention of Files On-Demand finally rolling out to macOS users. Initially offered as a preview in September of last year to Mac users, no formal word was made by the company as to when users should expect a widespread release.

While the site reports not all users are seeing the macOS version available, the rollout (which began yesterday), should hit most users in the coming weeks.

Today, the company has made its apps openly operated with third-party audits, open source code, audit logs, and much more. It is also inviting other VPN services to join the platform called Openly Operated.

iOS 12.1.1 and macOS 10.14.2 bring real-time text support to Wi-Fi calling, here’s how it works

Earlier today, Apple released iOS 12.1.1 and macOS Mojave 10.14.2. iOS 12.1.1 adds new features like new haptic touch features on iPhone XR and expanded eSIM support. The update also brings support for the real-time text (RTT) protocol to Wi-Fi calling, while macOS 10.14.2 brings it to the Mac.

‘LEGO The Incredibles’ RPG for macOS coming on November 21, pre-order and trailer now available

The Incredibles 2 movie from Disney and Pixar was released to own earlier this month, and now the family friendly film is getting LEGO-fied into a Mac game after debuting on Windows and console systems earlier this summer. Feral Interactive has shared a new trailer for the upcoming LEGO The Incredibles RPG for macOS ahead of its launch.

macOS Mojave drops Back to My Mac iCloud feature, Apple Remote Desktop recommended
