Three Apple events later, there’s still no word from Apple on AirTags – and now it seems Samsung could beat the Cupertino company to the market with Galaxy Smart Tags.
We were first to reveal that Apple was working on a Tile-like tracker for things like wallets, keys, and bags, but that was back in April of last year, and there’s still no sign of them yet …
After launching back August, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with the Snapdragon 865+ chip and 12GB RAM has been the fastest smartphone when it comes to app-loading style speed tests. However, now that Apple’s released its iPhone 12 and 12 Pro with the new A14 Bionic chip, it’s regained its crown.
Last year it appeared that Samsung was putting an end to its marketing approach of mocking Apple over the differences between iPhones and the Galaxy smartphones. Well, that didn’t last long, as Samsung has taken shots at Apple over the decision to stop including a charger with iPhone 12.
A report today suggests that Apple might be making South Korea a priority target for the iPhone 12, with this year’s models to go on sale there earlier than usual – or at least, at an earlier point in the rollout.
To manage supplies of new iPhones, Apple makes them available in waves, with the US, Canada, and Europe among those to be able to buy the devices when they are first launched …
Samsung has launched a slew of products at its virtual Unpacked event today including its latest smartphones, smartwatch, fully-wireless earbuds, and more. The new devices offer some compelling features ahead of Apple unveiling the iPhone 12 and new Apple Watch later this year.
A new supply-chain report backs suggestions of an iPhone 12 launch in October rather than the usual September timeframe.
Previous reports said that Apple bans on staff traveling to China earlier in the year means there have been delays to two phases of tests needed before mass-production can begin …
While Samsung has so far had the exclusive contract for flagship OLED iPhone screens, we learned last November that this is set to change – with LG coming on board as a second supplier for the iPhone 12 lineup. LG currently only makes displays for iPhones with LCD screens, along with a small number of OLED ones for older models.
A new report out of Korea claims to have more details and says that LG has received orders for up to 20M OLED screens for this year’s iPhones, with Samsung picking up the remaining 55M orders. If correct, the orders also give some insight into Apple’s expectations for one of the four models expected …
Samsung has launched its latest product today that sees its QLED Smart TV series expand outside. The new Terrace 4K outdoor TV comes with an IP55 dust and water resistance rating, a bright enough screen to enjoy content even in direct sunlight as well as Apple TV, iTunes, Apple Music, and AirPlay 2 integration.
Apple has beaten Samsung in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index, which shows iPhone owners most satisfied with their devices. Average satisfaction rates for iPhones was 82%, a higher rating than any other smartphone brand.

Now that Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones are out in the wild, we’re seeing them put through their paces. Today we’ve got a look at a drop test between the largest of the S20 series, the Ultra with a 6.9-inch display versus the iPhone 11 Pro Max and it’s almost a toss-up which smartphone should walk away with the victory.
Last year I had the opportunity to try the first iteration of the Galaxy Buds in order to compare them with the original AirPods. Today, I go hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ in order to compare them with the AirPods Pro. Watch our hands-on video walkthrough for the details. Expand Expanding Close
An analysis of the likely tech industry impact of the coronavirus outbreak says that smartphone sales are this quarter likely to sink to their lowest level in five years. Apple yesterday announced that it would not hit its own guidance for the quarter.
A separate report suggests that Samsung may be best-placed to weather the storm thanks to its main manufacturing base being outside China…
Over the weekend I got my hands on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip smartphone. It doesn’t possess the type of flagship specs found on the recently revealed Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, but to me, it’s by far the more interesting phone, thanks to its ability to fold a 6.7-inch AMOLED display into a clamshell form factor that’s much more portable.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is not the first foldable smartphone, but it’s easily the most impressive foldable phone that the industry has seen thus far. While far from perfect, it makes me think that there is definitely a market for such a product, and I think it goes without saying that Apple has been experimenting with similar form factors behind closed doors.
Although we may or may not ever see an Apple “iPhone Flip,” I’m really hoping that we will. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip breathes some much-needed excitement into the typical stale smartphone “slab of glass and metal” form factor.
During the Galaxy Unpacked event today, Samsung unveiled its latest flagship smartphones and accessories like its AirPods competitors. The Galaxy S20 lineup includes features like 120Hz displays, 8K video recording, and powerful cameras. Samsung also unveiled its second-gen foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip.
The latest estimate of the true wireless in-ear headphones market shows that Apple’s AirPods continue to dominate the market, with a 47% market share across 2019.
Second place was shared by Xiaomi and Samsung, who weren’t even close …
Apple beat Samsung in Q4 2019 smartphone shipments, but dropped from second to third place behind Huawei when looking at the year as a whole.
That’s the picture painted by Strategy Analytics, which estimated that Apple shipped 70.7M iPhones in Q4 2019 against 68.8M Samsung smartphones in the same quarter. It’s a reversal of the same quarter last year when the Korean company was comfortably ahead…
A couple of weeks ago during CES 2020, Samsung took the wraps off the latest iteration of its T-series portable SSD line, the Samsung T7 Touch. The newest portable SSD in the South Korean giant’s portfolio comes with embedded PCIe NVMe flash storage for the first time, resulting in faster peak speeds compared to previous entries in the lineup.
Additionally, the T7 Touch comes with a built-in solid state fingerprint security scanner to complement the password security that’s been present in previous generations of the T-series lineup.
With the entry-level 500GB model coming in at the same $130 starting price as its predecessor, should you consider the Samsung T7 Touch as the next portable SSD companion for your MacBook or iPad Pro? Watch our hands-on video review for the details. Expand Expanding Close

Samsung yesterday presented its Samsung Pass feature yesterday. Like Apple’s Face ID and Touch ID, this allows your face or fingerprint to log you in to things like e-banking services.
But the functionality wasn’t the only thing like Face ID: Samsung blatantly copied Apple’s icon…
All three 2020 iPhones are expected to have OLED screens, but that doesn’t mean they will all be equally good. The two flagship models are reportedly getting more advanced display tech which will result in thinner screens.
The supply-chain report says that Samsung will make the screens for the successors to the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max…
While the camera system upgrades for the iPhone 11 lineup may get the most attention for this year’s changes, the battery life for the lineup has also been considerably improved. In a new video, YouTuber PhoneBuff has put the iPhone 11 Pro Max up against Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+ in a battery life test.
The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro feature a variety of upgrades but the biggest changes are with the phones’ new camera systems. Just as preorders have gone live for the new iPhones, Samsung has released an ad trying to tempt iPhone users to pick up the Galaxy Note 10 by highlighting a camera feature the new iPhones don’t have.
