Check out our top iPhone X stories:

Apple has announced its long awaited bezel-less, premium 10th anniversary smartphone, iPhone X at its September event. Priced at $999 for the 64GB model and $1,149 for 256GB, iPhone X is Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet.

The iPhone X has a brand-new design and is the first iPhone to feature an OLED display. The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen with minimal bezels, giving it a physical size close to the iPhone 8, with a screen size larger than the iPhone 8 Plus.

The iPhone X features glass on the front and back with a stainless steel body that seamlessly meet at the device’s curved edges. Other flagship features include the devices new 3D sensors that bring Face ID as a replacement to Touch ID and wireless charging support.

The iPhone X along with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus feature the A11 Bionic processor. The all new chip has four efficiency cores that are up to 70% faster than A10 Fusion and two performance cores that are up to 25% faster. The new models also have an Apple designed GPU that offers up to 30% better performance than the A10 chip.

iPhone X will be available for preorder on October 27 and will launch on November 3.

iPhone X features 7 new Dynamic and 6 new Live wallpapers [Gallery]

iPhone X features several new wallpapers not available on other iPhones including seven dark themed Dynamic wallpapers and six new Live wallpapers (three of which will be coming in iOS 11.2 next month). You do need an iPhone X to access the full versions of these new wallpapers, but you can download still versions of each below as a workaround if you’re using another device.

iPhone X Diary: The keynote impressed me, but real-life use wows me

My first impression diary pieces are usually exactly that: based on just taking it out of the box, setting it up and playing with it for an hour or three.

This time, however, my iPhone X didn’t arrive until the end of the day on Friday, by which time I was already out for the evening. So this time I’ve had a weekend of use, and have a bit more to say.

I previously outlined the reasons I was buying it, despite my fondness for the iPhone SE. As someone who loves the design of the classic iPhones (iPhone 4/4S/5/5S/SE), and who isn’t a fan of the 6/6S/7/8, the first question I had was what I’d make of the design of the iPhone X …

New video shows Face ID fail to properly distinguish between siblings

Update: The brothers have uploaded a new video further explaining the Face ID issue. Watch it below.

Apple touts that Face ID is even more secure than Touch ID was, with there being a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of a different person being able to unlock someone else’s iPhone X with Face ID. A new video posted to Reddit, however, shows Face ID failing to properly differentiate between siblings…

What’s new in iOS 11.2 beta 2? Hands-on with changes and features [Video]

As we noted earlier, iOS 11.2 beta 2 is an iPhone X-only release for the time being. It doesn’t appear to feature many changes when compared to the previous beta, but it does come with at least three noteworthy new additions for iPhone X owners.

The biggest news for iOS 11.2 beta 2 is the presence of three new Live wallpapers, which appear in addition to the three new Live wallpapers included with the public iOS version for iPhone X. These are the same wallpapers that Apple has featured in its marketing, including its highly-publicized iPhone X ‘It’s Here’ commercial.

How to navigate the Home button-less iPhone X using gestures [Video]

The iPhone X ushers in a major change to the way we interact with our devices due to the lack of a Home button. In order to accommodate an almost bezel-free display, Apple eschewed the Home button and replaced its functionality with several new Screen Edge Gestures.

The presence of these new gestures present new learning opportunities for navigating throughout the iOS UI.  We’ve been using the iPhone X for a day now and have already largely adapted to the new interface methods.

Watch our hands-on video walkthrough as we step through many of the new gestures you’ll need to know to fully navigate the iOS interface sans Home button.

How to view your current battery percentage on iPhone X [Video]

iPhone battery

Unlike previous iPhones, there’s no way to manually enable a permanent battery percentage display on the iPhone X in the status bar via the Settings app. This could be due to the fact that there’s not as much real estate available in the status bar on the iPhone X, or it could just be Apple wanting to maintain a tidy interface.

Whatever the reason, Apple understands that users still need to be able to access their iPhone’s current battery percentage. How do you go about doing so on iPhone X? In our brief hands-on, we share three easy ways to do so.

CNET carries out review of iPhone X camera in California wildfire zone

I’m not totally convinced that the scene of the most devastating wildfire in California’s history is the most tasteful way to test the iPhone X camera, but I can kind of see why CNET’s senior photographer James Martin decided to do it.

News coverage requires a camera that not only produces good enough results for publication, but one that is sufficiently fast, reliable and flexible to cope with whatever might be thrown at it. In particular, you often don’t have much time for editing, so results have to be decent straight from camera …

Comment: Apple’s earnings report & guidance show that its three-model strategy has paid-off

The run-up to the launch of the iPhone X has been a long one. We got the first sure-fire clue that Apple was shaking up its iPhone line with last year’s iPhone 7. Instead of the familiar tick-tock pattern of a new design one year and new internals the following year, the iPhone 7 was a second tock: a relatively minor external refresh of the iPhone 6 design.

That was, of course, an interim move while Apple got the iPhone X ready for launch. But instead of two new models this year, we got three.

There were many who wondered whether Apple knew what it was doing …

iPhone X teardown highlights radical new internals, two-cell battery, stacked logic board

The iPhone X features a very different external appearance and design. Thanks to the iFixit teardown, we can now confirm that the internal design is also radically different and new.

The iPhone X has an L-shaped two-cell battery, an ‘unprecedented degree of miniaturization’ for the main logic board, and many other changes compared to the iPhone 8 series.
