Snapchat on Wednesday announced a new way to let creators monetize their content through “Spotlight Challenges.” In an attempt to compete with TikTok, Snapchat will now pay cash prizes to encourage “Snapchatters” to create content on the social network.

Snapchat is rolling out a major upgrade to its Scan feature and moving it so that it’s placed front and center in the application. As first reported by The Verge, the Scan feature can be used to identify a range of things in the real world, like clothes or dog breeds.”

Over the last week, a handful of viral posts on Twitter and TikTok have raised concerns over how Snapchat might “know when you were born.” As it turns out, chances are that you provided the application with this information, likely as part of its popular Astrological Profile feature.

Starting today, Snapchat for iOS is rolling out a new feature that builds on its popular Snap Map location-sharing platform. The company says the new “My Places” feature will allow users to explore and save their favorite businesses and locations in the Snapchat application.

Both Twitter and Snap have reported strong growth, and the latter has said that it was seeing higher rates of App Tracking Transparency opt-in than has been generally reported.

Snap had previously warned that it expected ad revenue to be hit by the feature, which reduces the opportunity to sell higher-priced personalized ads, but two factors meant that the impact was lower than expected …
