Apple partners with Verizon to offer free six months of News+ for new iPad buyers

Beginning later this week, Verizon and Apple are partnering on a new promotion for Apple News+. Any iPad activated through Verizon will qualify for a free six-month subscription to Apple News+. The deal arrives as Apple is trying to juice interest in the News+ service, which includes access to a handful of newspapers and ~300 magazines for $9.99 per month.

The six-month free period will be available for any Apple ID that has not used News+ before. If you have already redeemed the free trial month, then buying an iPad through Verizon will still be eligible for five months free.

Verizon adding full Apple Music as free perk to some Unlimited phone plans

Update: Verizon has now officially announced that Apple Music will be included in its “Beyond Unlimited” and “Above Unlimited” plans starting on January 17th.

We have exclusively learned that Verizon is adding Apple Music to two of its ‘unlimited’ cell phone plans, effectively offering the $9.99 subscription for no additional cost. This is not merely a free trial offer but an added service on an ongoing basis.

The perk will be added to existing and new Verizon customers on the Beyond Unlimited and Above Unlimited plans. The cheaper ‘Go Unlimited’ plans will continue to offer an Apple Music six month trial.

Verizon updates ‘My Verizon’ app for iOS with support for in-app eSIM setup and activation

After beginning the rollout of eSIM support for iPhone XS and iPhone XR last week, Verizon has today updated its My Verizon app for iOS with support for in-app eSIM activations. This means that if you use an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR, you can add a second eSIM line to your device directly from the My Verizon app.
