Instagram might soon launch a feature that many users have been calling for it to add (back) for years. According to Adam Mosseri, who serves as the head of Instagram, the company is actively exploring adding a chronological feed option to the app.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced more details about Meta’s effort to protect teens and support parents online. This comes after the “Instagram for kids” controversy and by the fact the US Congress is going to hear him about it this week.

The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has agreed to testify before Congress after the Instagram for kids controversy, which started at the beginning of the year. As reported by the New York Times, “Mr. Mosseri is expected to appear before a Senate panel during the week of Dec. 6 as part of a series of hearings on protecting children online, said Senator Richard Blumenthal, who will lead the hearing.”

Back in 2019, Instagram launched a new app called Threads – focused on sending and receiving messages with Instagram users but without the photo stuff. Now the Meta-owned company has announced that it is discontinuing Threads, and the app will no longer be available beginning in December.

Yesterday’s Facebook outage – which took down Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp as well as the main service – resulted from a mistake by the company’s own network engineers.

The mistake led to all of Facebook’s services being inaccessible, with one analogy likening it to a failure in the “air traffic control” services for network traffic …

Update: 5:55 p.m. ET: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger are slowly but surely coming back up after more than 6 hours of being down. Your mileage may vary for now, but the services are in the process of coming back to life.

Update 4:30 p.m ET: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp have now been down for five hours. In the latest update, Facebook CTO Mike Schroepfer says that Facebook is “experiencing networking issues and teams are working as fast as possible to debug and restore.” There is, however, no timeline on when to expect the services to come back online.
