DuckDuckGo is out today with an update that brings a beta of a new feature called DuckAssist. The approach to AI is different from what we’ve seen from OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s broad focus. DuckAssist was designed with the goal of offering “more directly responsive” answers to questions summarized from Wikipedia and similar sources.

A TikTok ban is getting dangerously, dangerously close in the United States. On Tuesday, Congress unveiled a bill, the RESTRICT Act, that would give the Biden administration the power to ban apps like TikTok if they pose a risk to US national security.

That bill has already received an endorsement from the Biden administration itself, which called on Congress to “quickly” pass it.

Following the release of iOS 16.4 beta 3 and other software updates to developers on Tuesday, Apple has quietly updated the Mac version of its audio editing app GarageBand. According to the company, today’s update comes with “important security fixes.”

Kensington is out with three new additions to its privacy screen lineup for Apple’s computers. Those include the MagPro Elite Privacy Screen for the 2022 MacBook Air with more traditional privacy screens for the M1 iMac and Studio Display.

Car Key was introduced in 2020 with iOS 13.6, and as the name suggests, the feature lets car owners use their iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock the doors and even start the car. Currently, Car Key works with both NFC and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologies, but Apple may drop support for NFC in the future. This is what the latest beta of iOS 16.4 suggests.

With iOS 16.4 beta, which was first released to developers last month, Apple has introduced a new way to set up a device to get beta software that doesn’t require special profiles or using a computer. As the company will make this the only way to install iOS betas in the future, the latest iOS 16.4 beta 3 now lets users sign in with a different Apple ID to download beta software.
