As the COVID-19 pandemic continues we’re seeing companies from all industries, including Apple accessory makers, support relief efforts from converting operations to make masks to sharing a cut of sales with non-profits. Apple itself has donated millions of masks as well as donating financial support. And as many have shifted to home offices we’re seeing popular Apple accessory makers like Nomad, Satechi, mophie/ZAGG, Twelve South, and more highlight some of their most helpful work from home gear.
Nomad is best known for its iPhone cases, cables, and chargers, but is now diverting resources into the production of medical masks to help with the fight against the coronavirus. It is doing this on a nonprofit basis.

Last fall we showed you Nomad’s Horween Leather Case for iPhone 7 Plus which is a sturdy alternative to Apple’s similar cases, and now Nomad is back with a new Midnight Blue color joining the existing Rustic Brown option. This time we’re checking out Nomad’s $50 Leather Folio Wallet iPhone 7 Plus case which is wrapped in Horween Leather with Nomad’s new blue.
I’ve always liked the idea of using a battery case, but with a phone like the iPhone 7 Plus, a lack of battery life isn’t a problem that I encounter regularly enough to warrant the extra bulk. I also like the idea of a wallet case to help keep up with my driver’s license and credit cards, but with a phone as large as the iPhone 7 Plus, I find such a setup to be a tad unwieldy.
The folks over at Nomad have come up with a solution that seems to address both of my issues, and depending on your needs, it might be a worthwhile solution for you as well.
The company’s Bi-fold and Slim Leather Wallet give you a place to keep all of your credit cards, identification, and other necessary items in a standalone form factor. In other words, it’s a traditional wallet setup that’s completely independent of your iPhone. But the kicker here is that the Nomad wallets feature an integrated portable battery with a hideaway Lightning cable for charging your iPhone on the fly when you happen to need it. Nomad is ending 2015 with a bang. Having moved from small plastic accessories into using luxury materials including metal, leather, and wood, Nomad is flexing its design muscles with four new Apple device chargers that are equally attractive and creative. There’s a deluxe metal Apple Watch/iPhone travel charger called Pod Pro, the wood-encased iPad battery pack PowerPlant, a hybrid iPhone battery and car charger named Roadtrip, and a Lightning battery-equipped leather Wallet. Three of the accessories look as if they were expressly designed to be holiday gifts, while the fourth is less exotic, but practical.
The common thread here is “portable power.” Pod Pro steps up from Nomad’s Apple Watch-only Pod (reviewed here) by more than tripling the power to 6,000mAh, and adding iPhone charging. PowerPlant packs an iPad-ready 12,000mAh cell inside a solid American Walnut wood block. Roadtrip serves as a car charger in your car, doubling as a portable iPhone battery pack for on-the-go use. And Wallet guarantees you’ll have a 2,400mAh battery and Lightning cable anywhere you go. Below, I’ll quickly walk through all of these new accessories so you can get a sense of whether any or all of them is right for you, or your favorite gift recipient…
