Motion for iPhone is a new challenge-focused app to help Peloton users stay motivated

Since receiving my Peloton bike in the middle of May, it’s been a constant in my life. Outside of days I’ve not been at home, I have only taken one day off from riding. I’ve become immersed in the community over on Reddit where I’ve enjoyed the group rides, celebrating milestones, and just chatting about connected fitness. Peloton is an ecosystem instead of just being a fitness product. A new iPhone app, Motion, is a perfect example of the ecosystem expanding with new options to extend the built-in functionality.

Peloton members will soon be able to turn the Apple TV into a living room fitness instructor. Subscribers were notified on Tuesday that a new Peloton app for the Apple TV is on the way. The company recently released Chromecast support for smart TVs after launching a Fire TV and Apple Watch app in December.

I’ve been exploring the world of Peloton since the exercise bike showed up in my home office last week. While Peloton does not work with GymKit, there are two Apple features that work with the workout system.

Peloton bikes and treadmills offer limited Apple Music integration for streaming music subscribers with linked accounts. Workouts tracked with the Peloton system can be saved to Apple’s Health app, too, although logging sessions with Apple Watch requires some configuration.

Great news for Apple Watch users who workout with Peloton. There’s now a new way to use your Apple Watch while you exercise.

Peloton already worked with Apple Health on the iPhone and workouts could be tracked from the watch, but the new app gives more control and data during sessions.
