Google today is rolling out an update to its Google Maps app on iOS that further integrates the app throughout the operating system. The update brings the app to version 4.30.0 and includes a pair of notable changes to the user interface as Google works to better compete with the integration offered throughout iOS by Apple Maps.
Instagram today announced a new feature for saving posts, allowing you to store them into folders called private collections. You can create multiple collections, meaning you can use the feature to organize posts you might want to reference at a later date. You’ll be prompted to create a new collection when saving a post:

Instagram is rolling out an update today that adds new features for stickers in both Stories and Direct messaging. The new features include more custom geostickers for cities, a new selfie sticker, and a “sticker pinning” feature that gives you more options for adding stickers to videos.
As it has done surrounding past holidays, Pokémon GO developers Niantic announced today that it will host a special in-game event for Easter weekend. Paper by FiftyThree is one of the most approachable sketching apps for iOS, and recent versions have made it a viable note-taking app as well. While Paper has always been free and previously included in-app purchases, FiftyThree added an optional subscription patronage system last year. Now Paper is introducing a new ‘Copy & Paste’ feature that will only be available for subscribers.
Developer Matthias Hochgatterer released Finances 2 for iOS just over a month ago, and today the Mac version of Finances 2 is officially launching. Hochgatterer is the developer behind the excellent third-party HomeKit app called Home that launched before Apple’s version. Previously available as a limited public beta, Finances 2 is out now on the Mac App Store.
Apple’s recently launched Clips video editing app managed to grab around a million downloads in its first four days on the App Store, that according to a report from TechCrunch using data complied by App Annie and Sensor Tower, two analytics companies that track app rankings.

If you like to keep up to date with Twitter but are tight on storage space or want to reduce data usage, the company has a new option as of today. Twitter Lite is what’s known as a Progressive Web App. Running in Safari and other mobile browsers, it’s a client-side JavaScript application that takes up less than 1MB of storage space.
Twitter says that the service also minimizes data usage and is resilient on unreliable and congested mobile networks, also supporting an offline mode. You also have the option of further reducing data usage by only downloading low-res previews of images and videos …
Apple Music for Android has received a huge revamp today to match the release of iOS 10 for iPhone and iPad last September. That redesign is now making its way to the streaming service’s Android app. The interface is nearly identical with features like iOS 10-specific features including lyrics and an improved Library available on Android for the first time.
Starbucks today updated its iPhone app to add a new “Starbucks Gifts” iMessage app, allowing users send gift cards through Apple’s iMessage and pay for them using Apple Pay.
Last week, it was revealed that Apple had acquired popular iOS quotation tool Workflow. Uber is today announcing a new feature with the ability for riders to edit their pickup address after requesting a ride.
The feature has been a top request following recent redesigns of the Uber app that implemented automatic positioning using GPS opposed to making users enter their locations manually. If the GPS got your address slightly wrong, however, you’d previously have to contact the driver to varying degrees of success. Today’s update will make it so you can easily adjust your address after requesting the ride without having to contact the driver directly.
Over a year ago, Apple removed an app called Metadata+ from the App Store. The app sent iPhone users alerts when a United States drone strike led to death. Apple’s reasoning at the time was that the app contained “content that many users would find objectionable.”
Fast forward to this week and Metadata+ is again in the news for being approved and removed, all in the span of less than 12 hours…
