That’s the picture painted by Strategy Analytics, which estimated that Apple shipped 70.7M iPhones in Q4 2019 against 68.8M Samsung smartphones in the same quarter. It’s a reversal of the same quarter last year when the Korean company was comfortably ahead…

While the camera system upgrades for the iPhone 11 lineup may get the most attention for this year’s changes, the battery life for the lineup has also been considerably improved. In a new video, YouTuber PhoneBuff has put the iPhone 11 Pro Max up against Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+ in a battery life test.
The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro feature a variety of upgrades but the biggest changes are with the phones’ new camera systems. Just as preorders have gone live for the new iPhones, Samsung has released an ad trying to tempt iPhone users to pick up the Galaxy Note 10 by highlighting a camera feature the new iPhones don’t have.
Apple is reported to be getting closer to signing off on the company’s first-ever order for OLED iPhone screens from a Chinese company, BOE.

Apple has created a new web page announcing that it has “directly and indirectly” created more than 325,000 jobs in South Korea, home to supplier and rival Samsung.

Samsung ads mocking iPhones are one of the company’s stock in trades, including ones which made fun of the lack of a headphone jack in the iPhone 7 and iPhone X.
The Korean company has, however, followed Apple’s example with its latest flagship device, the Galaxy Note 10. As 9to5Google observes, one of the notable changes from earlier models is that Samsung has dropped the headphone socket …

When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Fold I was admittedly jealous as an iPhone user, and I wasn’t alone. The device has created lots of interest in foldable smartphones, with many dreaming about when Apple might offer a similar device. However, now that reviews are landing for Samsung’s almost $2,000 bleeding-edge tech, the device isn’t looking very appealing. Beyond the displays of multiple review units having already failed, there are a host of other problems with the Galaxy Fold. Are they enough to dissipate the envy of iPhone owners?

Apple has long been the undisputed profit king of the smartphone industry, taking by far the largest slice of the total profit pie. Indeed, at one point Apple was – by one admittedly eccentric measure – taking more than 100% of the profits, when factoring in loss-making brands.
iPhones have also consistently been the most expensive smartphones, discounting tacky bejewelled specials like Vertu. Even when Samsung theoretically matched or exceeded Apple’s pricing for its flagships, its offerings were usually steeply discounted 2-3 months after launch.
Samsung showed off its new Galaxy Fold this week – a two thousand dollar foldable smartphone due to go on sale in April. While it’s more of a proof-of-concept product than anything most people would want to buy, it inevitably raised questions about when Apple would launch a folding iPhone.
Goldman Sachs described the Galaxy Fold as ‘the main potential challenge‘ for Apple, and suggested that even if the Cupertino company wants to make a folding iPhone, it may struggle to do so …
