Instagram now lets you share portrait and landscape shots in galleries 

Instagram introduced a new gallery feature for posting multiple photos and videos in a carousel album format back in February, but the feature has had a classic Instagram limitation since it launched. Photos and videos shared in groups have had to be cropped into squares to fit the carousel, but Instagram is lifting that requirement starting today.

PSA: Now’s a good time to check which of your apps won’t open in iOS 11 as 32-bit support dropped

We reported back in June that Apple was dropping support for 32-bit applications altogether in iOS 11. In iOS 10, Apple displays a warning message and then allows the app to open; in iOS 11, the app won’t open at all.

But with some 187,000 32-bit apps still in the App Store – amounting to around 8% of the total – now would be a good time to check your own apps. It takes just a few seconds to do this …

Google Glass will keep working on iOS as companion app updated w/ 64-bit support for iOS 11

Google Glass has seen a number of developments in recent weeks with the most significant being a wider launch of the Enterprise Edition. Meanwhile, the Explorer Editions and the Android companion app received their first updates in nearly three years. Over the weekend, Google has gone ahead and updated the iOS version of MyGlass with 64-bit support.

VMware announces Fusion 10 with enhanced GPU & 3D graphics performance, Touch Bar support

With Parallels Desktop 13 just out, VMware clearly didn’t want to be left out of the picture. The company has announced that Fusion 10 will be launched in October, with enhanced GPU and 3D graphics performance, an updated UI and Touch Bar support. It is also ready for macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

Fusion, like competitor Parallels, allows you to run virtual Windows machines – or individual Windows apps – within macOS. This can be more convenient than Boot Camp for those who operate primarily in a macOS environment.

The standard version, costing $79, is intended for personal use, while the Pro version, at $159, is aimed at developers and tech professionals. The company also confirmed upgrade pricing, as well as a special deal for those buying the existing version between now and October …

Parallels Desktop 13 brings improved performance & native Touch Bar support to Windows

Ahead of the macOS High Sierra release, virtualization software company Parallels has officially announced the availability of Parallels Desktop 13. Outside of bringing the traditional performance improvements, Desktop 13 introduces native Touch Bar support to Microsoft’s OS and a good portion of its most used applications. The update also brings in a slightly refreshed UI to better match macOS and visual improvements for Windows users on Retina displays.
