Check out our top iPhone X stories:

Apple has announced its long awaited bezel-less, premium 10th anniversary smartphone, iPhone X at its September event. Priced at $999 for the 64GB model and $1,149 for 256GB, iPhone X is Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet.

The iPhone X has a brand-new design and is the first iPhone to feature an OLED display. The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen with minimal bezels, giving it a physical size close to the iPhone 8, with a screen size larger than the iPhone 8 Plus.

The iPhone X features glass on the front and back with a stainless steel body that seamlessly meet at the deviceā€™s curved edges.Ā Other flagship features include the devices new 3D sensors that bring Face ID as a replacement to Touch ID and wireless charging support.

The iPhone X along with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus feature the A11 Bionic processor. The all new chip hasĀ four efficiency cores that are up to 70% faster than A10 Fusion and two performance cores that are up to 25% faster. The new models also have an Apple designed GPU that offers up to 30% better performance than the A10 chip.

iPhone X will be available for preorder on October 27 and will launch on November 3.

New in-depth videos offer hands-on look at iPhone X unboxing, Face ID set up, and more

Update: Three additional videos have now hit YouTube. These videos, save for the Spanish unboxing, appear to be sanctioned by Apple. The company seemingly invited a handful of Ā YouTubers to spend time with the device. More on that here.

Over the weekend, a handful of images and videos offered a look at the iPhone X in retail packaging. Now, a trio of new videos have hit YouTube offering a much more in-depth look at the device, putting it though the full unboxing process, Face ID set up, and more.

Original iPhone reviewer Steven Levy gets early hands-on with iPhone X

Whilst we are waiting for the onslaught of iPhone X reviews to drop, Steven Levy (now writing for Wired) has published his hands-on with the device, having been given a review unit last Tuesday. Levy was one of the four journalists who reviewed the original iPhone in 2007, so Apple decided to give him the opportunity to publish first impressions with the ‘milestone’ iPhone X.

Levy was impressed by the ‘Super Retina’ 5.8-inch OLED display in the body of a phone only slightly larger than a 4.7-inch iPhone 8. He also quickly adapted to the new swipe gestures that replace the home button, but hit some frictions with Face ID.

Apple reportedly fires engineer whose daughter shot iPhone X video from the Apple campus

We got to see an unofficial hands-on video of the iPhone X last week, thanks to a YouTube vlog shot by the daughter of an Apple engineer. The video was shotĀ within CaffĆØ Macs on Apple’s campus, and there were signs that it was not approved by Apple.

That appears to be confirmed by a tearful follow-up video in which Brooke Peterson says that her father has now been fired by Apple …

Best Buy charging a $100 premium on full iPhone X price, says customers ā€˜want this flexibilityā€™

In the lead up to iPhone X preorders today you may have noticed that Best Buy’s website was showing the full price cost of both iPhone X models $100 above the retail price. I also noticed it last week and figured it was just a mistake that would be corrected sooner or later. Bloomberg: Apple lowered Face ID component specifications to make iPhone X easier to produce

Update: Apple has issued a statement refuting the claims made in the Bloomberg article. The statement says “Bloomberg’s claim that Apple has reduced the accuracy spec of Face ID is completely false.” Original story below.

The problems with the iPhone X production are very well documented by this point. We have been hearing for months that suppliers were having yield issues with the 3D-sensing components.

Bloomberg reports Apple helped suppliers increase production by lowering the specifications of the components that make up Face ID, which allowed the supply chain to test dot projector modules faster and push out units at a faster rate.
