Since its introduction, Apple has released at least one new phone every single year. In recent years, that has typically been in the fall. iPhones are sold through multiple retail channels including Apple Stores, cellular stores, Best Buy, and other major electronic retailers. iPhones can be bought with a single up front payment, financed through the iPhone Upgrade Program, or financed through a cellular carrier.

Apple’s smartphone has become much more than just a phone since its debut. The iPhone can act as your primary camera, music player, GPS device, email client, mobile banking system, messaging device, movie player, and much more.

Apple drops need for iPhone screen repairs to use calibration hardware, reducing turnaround time for repair shops

Apple is rolling out a change to its policies for iPhone screen repair, in a note seen by 9to5Mac (first shared with iMore). Apple is dropping the need for repair centers to use calibration hardware when conducting screen repairs for iPhone 6s and later.

Calibration is now achieved through software alone. This should make repairs faster and makes it easier for more repair locations to open up around the world, assuming Apple also loosens its relatively-stringent approval policy on setting up new repair centers.

One of the threats to Apple’s revenue stream has been longer smartphone upgrade cycles. The average in the US has crept slowly upwards, to around 2.5 years today – meaning most people are upgrading every 2-3 years.

The iPhone Upgrade Program was a smart solution – from Apple’s perspective. By giving people the option of upgrading every year for one monthly fee, the company strongly encourages people to do so. But it’s not such a great deal from the customer side …

When Apple unveiled the iPhone X a year ago, Tim Cook described it as ‘the future of the iPhone.’ A year later, that future is here.

All three of this year’s models share the same core design. As close as possible to an all-screen design, the Home button replaced by Face ID and gestures, and a notch to accommodate the camera and sensors at the top of the screen.

Phil Schiller mentioned on stage at Apple’s event today that the new iPhones include the most LTE bands that have ever been included in the company’s smartphones. After taking a look at the Xs and XR tech specs, not only do the new devices include more bands, one of them is new to iPhones this year that can offer T-Mobile users better coverage.

The sitemap leak is turning up a goldmine of info. The 6.1-inch iPhone will indeed be called iPhone Xr, and it will be offered in six colors: black, white, red, yellow, coral and blue.

The URLs confirm it will have a 6.1-inch display and offered in three storage options; 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.
