Apple Stores: What makes them unique?

Beyond their award-winning architecture and landmark designs, Apple Stores are known for their focus on education and creativity. Over 250,000 free Today at Apple sessions were offered to the community each quarter prior to the pandemic. New stores are designed with a Video Wall and gathering area for Today at Apple known as the Forum. Older “classic” locations are being upgraded to accommodate the same experience.

Apple again loses staff bag search case

An appeals court has ruled that Apple must pay retail staff for the time they spend waiting for their bags to be searched before they leave the store. If this sounds like history repeating itself, it is: incredibly, Apple has been fighting the bag search case for seven years now.

When Apple Store staff completed their shift, they were required to wait in line for a possible search of any bag they brought into the store with them. The same applied if staff wanted to leave the store during break times. Apple didn’t pay them for that time. Staff argued that this commonly took 10-15 minutes, and sometimes up to 45 minutes, and they should be paid up until the point they were allowed to leave the store …

Bloomberg: Apple Online Store for India to launch next month

Apple is set to launch an official first-party presence in India, with the launch of the Apple Online Store beginning next month according to a report today from Bloomberg. This lines up with a Q3 timeline reported by TechCrunch earlier this year.

Apple is finally able to start direct sales in the region as Indian government rules that companies must source 30% of components domestically were relaxed last year. The launch of the Indian Apple Online Store will be followed by the opening of physical stores, starting in Mumbai.

Flagship replacement planned for Oakridge Centre Apple Store amid mall closure

Apple Oakridge Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia will someday move to an all-new redesigned space. In the meantime, the majority of the mall Apple currently calls home plans to temporarily close. Oakridge Centre is in the early stages of a major redevelopment project that will require most tenants to vacate during construction.

Apple also offered a puzzle in a can, a paddle game, luggage tags, and even a onesie with the classic Mac OS Trash icon screen printed on the front. These forgotten items and nearly 100 more products came from the peculiar world of AppleDesigns.com, one of Apple’s earliest online shopping projects.
