Apple Business Manager launches in U.S. ahead of global expansion with School Manager

After teasing a late spring launch for its new Business Manager platform for enterprise users, Apple announced the U.S. launch this week during a developer session at WWDC.

Apple Business Manager will then launch globally in 34 countries starting June 20, followed by an expansion to another 31 countries this summer alongside Apple School Manager. The Business Manager platform was previously in beta with a select group of partners since earlier this year.

Apple highlighting apps made by WWDC 2018 scholarship winners with App Store Today feature

Apple is featuring apps from WWDC 2018 scholarship winners in a special editorial piece in the Today tab of the iOS 11 App Store. It’s a cool gesture that gives some exposure to apps from upcoming developers. The feature highlights scholarship winners from various regions, with a list of names and links to their apps already on the App Store.

There are usually a couple hundred scholarship places given out at each WWDC, and this list only includes about twenty names. It’s not clear how Apple chose which individuals made the list. The feature will be rolling out to the App Store front page, worldwide, from tomorrow (June 2nd).

Pixelmator Pro updated with Touch Bar support, SVG editing, advanced web export and slicing tools

The Pixelmator Team has today released the latest update of its Pixelmator Pro app for Mac. Version 1.1 brings a lot of new features, and a plethora of smaller enhancements and bug fixes.

The photo-editing app now features rich integration with the Touch Bar, a suite of new web export options, machine-learning color adjustments, slicing, SVG vector image editing and many smaller changes.

Unofficial WWDC app for macOS gets major update with iCloud sync, related sessions, more

Following the update of Apple’s official WWDC app for iOS, the unofficial app for macOS has been updated to version 6. WWDC for macOS allows both attendees and non-attendees to Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference, which starts next week in San Jose, to access live-streams, videos, and session information during the conference and as a year-round developer resource.

Another very useful feature of the app is the ability to stream live videos and recorded sessions to Chromecast devices.

Apple Events app updated on Apple TV ahead of June 4 WWDC keynote live stream

As expected, the Apple Events app has now been updated so Apple TV owners can easily tune into the WWDC keynote announcements. For tvOS devices, the fourth- and fifth-generation Apple TV, you need to download/update the Apple Events from the App Store. Users of older Apple TVs will notice the Apple Events channel shows up automatically.

Apple’s WWDC app for iOS updated ahead of next week’s event, includes new stickers

Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held next week (June 4–8) in San Jose. WWDC is the biggest event of the year for Apple, where they announce major new OS releases for all platforms. iOS 11.4 coming today, HomePod gains multiroom audio and stereo pairing with AirPlay 2

HomePod

Apple is today releasing iOS 11.4, which finally includes AirPlay 2. This will bring multi-room and stereo pairing to the HomePod and Apple TV, calendar personal requests to HomePod Siri, alongside many other features.

The HomePod will also be debuting in several new countries next month; HomePod launches in Canada, France, and Germany on June 18 (via Buzzfeed).
