Apple Stores: What makes them unique?

Beyond their award-winning architecture and landmark designs, Apple Stores are known for their focus on education and creativity. Over 250,000 free Today at Apple sessions were offered to the community each quarter prior to the pandemic. New stores are designed with a Video Wall and gathering area for Today at Apple known as the Forum. Older “classic” locations are being upgraded to accommodate the same experience.

When we learned yesterday that Apple seemingly plans to replace the iconic glass cube of the Apple Store at New York’s 5th Avenue, the reason wasn’t clear. However, some architectural models that have just come to light might explain the reason and give us a sneak preview of the new design of the flagship store.

Apple replaced the glass cube once before, back in 2011, when it was able to reduce the number of glass panes from 90 to just 15, resulting in a much cleaner look. But this time we’ve learned that the replacement cube may not look any different to the existing one …

Apple planning to replace iconic glass cube at its 5th Ave store (again)

Apple’s flagship retail store on 5th Avenue in New York City has been undergoing renovations since January, and now Apple appears to be planning to replace the iconic glass cube entrance at the site. A building permit discovered by BuildZoom has been granted for the “full removal” of the gigantic glass structure at the Apple Store’s entrance.

Dubai Mall Apple Store to open on April 27, offer views of Burj Khalifa

Apple’s third retail store in the United Arab Emirates, located in the fashionable Dubai Mall, will open on April 27. The company has announced on its website that the grand opening will take place at 4pm after promoting it with a Creativity Connected tagline and a unique art display.

The store, which occupies two floors in the giant shopping mall, will be open seven days a week, 10am to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday and 10am to midnight Thursday to Saturday …

Apple unveils new Dubai Mall retail store with unique art display ahead of grand opening

Apple launches new Field Trips and App Store page for Autism Acceptance month

Fencing goes down, revealing new Apple Store in Cologne, Germany – opening this month [U]

We’ve been hearing rumors about a second Apple Store in the Germany city of Cologne for years now, with apparent confirmation back in 2015. Apple made it official a few days ago, stating that the store would open on March 25, and Macerkopf posted a photo supplied by Apple when the fencing finally came down.

A fun look back at the Apple Cafes that almost launched three years before the Apple Store [Gallery]

When Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, it wasn’t long before he decided that transforming the retail experience was key to the company’s future growth. He almost immediately started cutting the Mac authorized retailer network, eliminating those stores he felt weren’t delivering the right kind of purchasing experience, and in 1999 began work on the Apple Store project. The first store opened two years later in 2001.

LG UltraFine 5K Display inventory removed from Apple Stores after shipment delays caused by interference problems
