Since its introduction, Apple has released at least one new phone every single year. In recent years, that has typically been in the fall. iPhones are sold through multiple retail channels including Apple Stores, cellular stores, Best Buy, and other major electronic retailers. iPhones can be bought with a single up front payment, financed through the iPhone Upgrade Program, or financed through a cellular carrier.

Apple’s smartphone has become much more than just a phone since its debut. The iPhone can act as your primary camera, music player, GPS device, email client, mobile banking system, messaging device, movie player, and much more.

Apple has long pocketed the vast majority of total profit in the smartphone sector, often more than 90% of them – with one calculation even hitting 103% by factoring in loss-making brands.

iFixit speculates iOS 11.3 touchscreen issues aren’t purposeful, just software bugs

Last week, reports started popping up that iOS 11.3 was bricking devices that had been repaired with third-party screens. A pair of other issues have also emerged, including the new Battery Health feature not supporting aftermarket batteries and auto brightness and True Tone failing on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8, and iPhone X.

iFixit, however, speculates today that these issues are primarily software fixes, rather than deliberate efforts by Apple to sabotage third-party repairs…

With all the signs pointing to the iPhone X not selling as well as Apple and its suppliers had hoped, many wondered whether the $999+ price tag was too high even for iPhone loyalists. One popular line of thought is that as the technology included in the flagship model will, like everything else, fall in price over time, that Apple would use the savings to give customers a slightly more palatable price this year.

But at least one bank thinks that won’t be the case, and that this year’s iPhone X equivalent will be even more expensive …

It’s no secret that Apple Stores have struggled to keep up with demand for iPhone battery replacements, and it appears the company is trying a new strategy to reduce repair times for customers with affected iPhones. 9to5Mac has heard from multiple Apple Stores that the company has brought in both AppleCare employees and external contractors to work in retail stores on iPhone battery replacements specifically.

A suspect report today from Economic Daily News (translated) predicts that Apple will release an iPhone with three lenses and improved zoom as early as next year. The hardware shift would come just two years after Apple introduced its iSight Duo dual lens system on the iPhone 7 Plus which is also present on the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.

Update: On schedule, you now can order your (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 from the Apple Store and third party retailers like Best Buy. Current shipping estimates indicate there is plenty of stock for Friday delivery.

Apple has announced a brand new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, available later this week. The product features a special red back design and a black bezel. For iPhone X, there is no new hardware per se; Apple is releasing a new (PRODUCT)RED leather folio case though.

Apple says the new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone will be available to order from Tuesday, April 10. The product will be in stores this Friday.

Korea likely to be third country to fine Apple for unfair contracts with carriers

An investigation by the South Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC) into alleged unfair practices by Apple is expected to result in the iPhone maker being fined, says a local report. Apple is accused of ‘dumping’ both advertising and repair costs on carriers.

It follows earlier fines for unfair contracts in both Taiwan and France …
