Since its introduction, Apple has released at least one new phone every single year. In recent years, that has typically been in the fall. iPhones are sold through multiple retail channels including Apple Stores, cellular stores, Best Buy, and other major electronic retailers. iPhones can be bought with a single up front payment, financed through the iPhone Upgrade Program, or financed through a cellular carrier.

Apple’s smartphone has become much more than just a phone since its debut. The iPhone can act as your primary camera, music player, GPS device, email client, mobile banking system, messaging device, movie player, and much more.

Second reports suggests Apple plans to drop LCD in next year’s iPhones

While we’re expecting to see three new iPhone models this year, two with OLED screens and a cheaper model using LCD, a new report says that Apple will transition to an all-OLED line-up next year.

Although this is just an unsourced supply-chain report, there are three reasons to give it at least some degree of credibility …

We would take these images with a healthy dose of skepticism, but a relatively unheard-of publication TechnoCodex is sharing images of what it claims are prototypes of a 2018 iPhone model, ostensibly from a manufacturer in India. The physical form of the phone seen in the photos looks like the back of an iPhone X, with rounded chassis edges and vertically stacked dual camera with integrated flash, but in two rather striking new colors …

Pro camera app Obscura 2 launches with new filters, metadata viewer, and one-hand friendly UI that looks great on iPhone X

The alternative camera app market has been heating up lately. Apple’s stock Camera app is great for the average person, but intentionally hides away advanced options like manual controls for ISO and shutter speed. Also, on iPhone X, the Camera app doesn’t quite fit in with lots of unused blank space and a hard-to-reach top toolbar.

Obscura 2 is a worthy contender in the pro camera app market, launching today in the App Store ($4.99). The main screen incorporates all controls into a bottom third of the screen, easily accessible when using the iPhone one-handed. There are dedicated buttons for common actions of changing exposure and focus, and a simple ‘control wheel’ dial houses the rest of the controls. Obscura includes a rich set of filters, gestures and a beautifully integrated photo library browser.

Apple will give $50 credit to customers who paid full price for iPhone battery replacement repairs in 2017

Apple is offering a $50 credit to iPhone customers who paid for an out-of-warranty battery replacement in 2017, who would be affected by the battery performance throttling saga but had already had their battery replaced before #batterygate happened at the end of the year.

Before the saga happened, Apple battery replacements cost $79, so a $50 credit matches the currently discounted $29 price.

Apple reduces USB-C to Lightning Cable price amid rumors 2018 iPhones dropping USB-A

Apple’s 1m USB-C to Lightning Cable, which allows faster charging for compatible iPhones and iPads, has been reduced in price. When the cable debuted, the original price was $25 for the 1m version, and $35 for the 2m version.

It appears that last month, Apple quietly dropped the price of the 1m USB-C to Lighting Cable by $6, going from $25 to $19. This change comes amid rumors that new iPhones will drop the USB-A-equipped Lightning to USB Cables in favor of USB-C cables that are able to facilitate faster charging.

Renders claim to show new 18W Apple USB-C charger, will be bundled with 2018 iPhones

It looks like Apple will finally be adding a faster power brick in the box with the upcoming 2018 iPhones (iPhone X successor, a 6.5-inch ‘iPhone X Plus’, and a 6.1-inch LCD model). Backing up a report from earlier this month, ChargerLab has published renders of what it believes the new iPhone charger will look like.

Most notably, it features a USB-C port. This presumably means Apple will include a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box for the first time too.
