Apple Stores: What makes them unique?

Beyond their award-winning architecture and landmark designs, Apple Stores are known for their focus on education and creativity. Over 250,000 free Today at Apple sessions were offered to the community each quarter prior to the pandemic. New stores are designed with a Video Wall and gathering area for Today at Apple known as the Forum. Older “classic” locations are being upgraded to accommodate the same experience.

Against a sparkling backdrop of soaring fountain jets, Apple today welcomed the public for the first time to its global flagship retail store and amphitheater in Milan, Italy’s Piazza Liberty. The store is Apple’s 17th in Italy, but one of the first in a series of significant next-generation retail projects around the world.

Apple’s retail challenge: An increasingly complex relationship with public spaces

“We will know we have done really great if it feels like a town square,” explained Apple’s SVP of Retail Angela Ahrendts in May 2016. Ahrendts was specifically referring to Apple’s flagship Union Square store in San Francisco, but the goal was part of a broader initiative to reimagine the experience of all Apple retail stores.

Apple’s modern new store in Walnut Creek, CA set to open on July 28th

Less than a month after relocating an aging store in Seattle’s University Village to a dramatically larger and more modern space nearby, Apple will do the same in Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza. According to a banner posted on the company’s retail website, the grand opening of the new Apple Broadway Plaza is set for July 28th at 10:00 A.M. The planned move will come shortly after Apple Piazza Liberty opens in Milan, Italy on July 26th.

Apple’s spectacular Milan store set to be unveiled on July 18, open on July 21 – report

Apple first shared its plans for a new flagship Apple Store in Milan back in May of last year. The company said then that the store will sit beneath an amphitheater, and you’ll enter it using a staircase that descends through the middle of a fountain.

A local report now says that there will be a two-stage opening next month, and explains the reason for the delay …
