iPhone 9to5Mac

Introduced in 2007 by Steve Jobs, iPhone is Apple’s flagship iOS device and easily its most popular product around the world. Software wise, it runs iOS and includes a large collection of mobile apps through the App Store.

Since its introduction, Apple has released at least one new phone every single year. In recent years, that has typically been in the fall. iPhones are sold through multiple retail channels including Apple Stores, cellular stores, Best Buy, and other major electronic retailers. iPhones can be bought with a single up front payment, financed through the iPhone Upgrade Program, or financed through a cellular carrier.

Apple’s smartphone has become much more than just a phone since its debut. The iPhone can act as your primary camera, music player, GPS device, email client, mobile banking system, messaging device, movie player, and much more.

Apple will stop reporting unit sales for iPhone, iPad and Mac from next quarter

iPhone XR sales

Apple just announced on its earnings call that it will stop reporting unit sales for iPhone, iPad and Mac from next quarter — the start of its next financial year. The company already withheld unit sales for Apple Watch, AirPods and similar products as part of its ‘Other Products’ business.

However, opting not to release numbers for its biggest revenue drivers, especially the iPhone, is a huge deal. It means investors can only guess at just how successful Apple’s flagship products are being received by the market.

AAPL down 4% after hours: Cook blames lower-than-expected guidance on forex, some emerging market weakness

Apple’s earnings have just dropped and the investor call is ongoing. Whilst Apple hit the top end of expectations for the current quarter, guidance for the holiday quarter was lower than most investors expected. In an interview with Reuters, Cook blamed three factors for the cautious outlook: differences in iPhone schedule compared to last year, negative impacts from foreign exchange rates, and macroeconomic weakness in ‘select emerging markets’.

iPhone XR reviews: the best of iPhone XS with a couple compromises, beats Max battery life

Update: Apple has rounded up some of its favorite iPhone XR reviews here.

The iPhone XR launches this Friday from $749, in six beautiful colors: black, white, blue, red, coral and yellow. Now, the press reviews are dropping … and firmly position the XR as the mainstream iPhone for this generation.

The XR features the same A12 chip, the same wide angle camera as the XS, and approximates the iPhone X design with aluminium sides, an LCD display and slightly thicker bezels.
